Argentine Internet users very much involved in Argentine elections

Buenos Aires, May 18th - Livra Online Research, in partnership with portal UOL and political analysis agency Nuevamayoria.com has conducted a number of online studies in the eve of the Argentine presidential elections. The studies aimed to study the political preferences of Internet users in Argentina.

In the first round of surveys, weeks before the election, the study anticipated a comfortable victory for candidate Ricardo López Murphy within the Internet population. Lopez Murphy's academic credentials and moderate/conservative points of view have made him a popular choice for the middle and upper classes in Argentina. Despite Mr. Lopez Murphy's poor results for the general population, the study's forecast for middle and upper classes was accurate.

First and second, separated by a very narrow margin, were Menem and Kirchner, but under Argentine electoral laws a second round of voting (or ballotage) is required to decide the winner when such a small margin separate the contenders. After Carlos Menem pulled out from the ballotage, Néstor Kirchner formerly a governor of a Patagonian province will take office the 25th of May as Argentina's new president. Livra Online Research and its partners conducted another round of surveys days before the ballotage was supposed to take place and anticipated a very strong outcome for Mr. Kirchner. Out of the 9,000 people interviewed, 70% said they would vote for Mr. Kirchner and 79.5% believed he had the strongest chance of winning.

Martín Añazco, one of the company's founders and CEO said "We are very happy with the chance we were given to prove that our services provide a fast straight forward way of sampling a large segment of the population, we think online research is the way to go for achieving a high volume of responses in a short period of time and look forward to further help market research agencies around the world with their research projects in Latin America".
